The Meteor is the official student newspaper of Virginia Episcopal School (VES), a private boarding school founded in 1916 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Established shortly after the school’s founding, The Meteor has served as a main platform for student journalism, creative writing, opinion talks, and school news. It is one of the oldest continuous student-run publications at the state of Virginia and has played a important role in documenting campus life, student perspectives, and historical events for over a century.
Originally printed as both a newspaper and an annual yearbook substitute, The Meteor documented key milestones, alumni achievements, and cultural shifts within the VES community. Over time, its format evolved, even declined for decades, but it has remained a symbol of student voice and leadership. Shoutout to Augustus Knebel 24' for bringing the Meteor back to life.
Today, The Meteor continues to shine its legacy through student-led editorial teams who write, design, and publish issues that reflect both the traditional values and modern news of VES.
